Técnicas Reunidas has inaugurated its new office in Houston, accompanied by companies from across the energy sector value chain from North America, Europe, and Japan.
The event was attended by the Executive Chairman of Técnicas Reunidas, Juan Lladó, and the CEO, Eduardo San Miguel.
Representatives from the energy, finance, and infrastructure sectors debated the current challenges for the implementation of projects based on low-emission technologies.
They discussed the latest regulatory developments, the maturity of technologies, and the economic viability of different products. Financing schemes and contractual frameworks were identified as the most relevant issues to accelerate the implementation of low-carbon projects.
Presence in North America
Técnicas Reunidas has already executed important projects in the United States and Canada and has worked for several major North American companies around the world. The more than 30 projects executed in North America include investments in petrochemical plants, production of low-sulphur fuels, natural gas liquefaction terminals, production of blue ammonia, and green fertilisers.
The event also served to officially present Técnicas Reunidas’ decarbonisation strategy, known as track, in the United States. Through track, Técnicas Reunidas is accelerating the implementation of low-carbon projects.
In the last year, Técnicas Reunidas has been awarded projects for services related to low-carbon technologies for more than 300 million euros. The pipeline of opportunities in these technologies amounts to 7,000 million euros by 2024. Técnicas Reunidas is also working in project developments totalling 4,000 million euros.
In the United States, the new energy scenario defined by the incentives scheme contemplated in the Inflation Reduction Act, valued at 369 billion dollars, makes the investment in low-carbon projects particularly attractive. As a result, the investment in North America in projects with decarbonization technologies (hydrogen value chain, biofuels and carbon capture) is expected to reach 60 billion dollars annually by 2030.
European and Japanese companies are positioning themselves in this market to meet their net zero strategies and the regulatory requirements of Europe and Japan. track is supporting these companies in identifying and developing investment opportunities to align US incentives for decarbonisation with the regulatory needs of other markets.
Técnicas Reunidas and track will significantly increase their presence in North America and in lowcarbon technologies from their new Houston base.
Juan Lladó, Executive Chairman of Técnicas Reunidas, said “We are happy to be nearer to old and new US customers. Being here in Houston will allow us to bring our distinctive Madrid process engineering hub closer to their projects.”.
